Although a slowly dying art form, many Persian carpets are still knotted by nomads. These rustic carpets are knotted under modest conditions using wool from locally raised sheep, dyed using natural dyes. The nomads fetch their inspiration from their natural surroundings and this results in a great deal of variety, personal charm and artistic expression.
