African Fingerprints de Ulrike Mieke Marais

The African fingerprints were inspired by a recent holiday in the Mapungubwe Heritage Site in South Africa, were the most wonderful handcrafts were made. Each craft unique and wonderfully made by hand, this encouraged me to explore the process of mark making. With regards to the colors I have tried to capture the South African identity, strong, bold and bright but with a modern style and feel.

Die Afrikaanse vingerafdrukke is geïnspireer deur 'n onlangse vakansie in die Mapungubwe Erfenisterrein in Suid-Afrika, daar was die wonderlikste handwerk gemaak. Elke handwerk unieke en wonderlike met die hand gemaak, dit het my aangemoedig om die proses van merk maak verken. Met betrekking tot die kleure Ek het probeer om die Suid-Afrikaanse identiteit, 'n sterk, dapper en helder, maar met 'n moderne styl en gevoel vas te vang.

My name is Ulrike Mieke Marais I am a twenty-one year old, Visual Communication Design student at the University of Stellenbosch in South Africa. I am passionate about design and illustration and look forward to what the future has install for me as a designer. I am inspired by my surroundings and am very fortunate to be able to live in such a culturally rich country.

My naam is Ulrike Mieke Marais Ek is een-en-twintig jaar oud en is n visuele kommunikasie ontwerp-student aan die Universiteit van Stellenbosch in Suid-Afrika. Ek is passievol oor ontwerp en illustrasie en sien uit vir die toekoms. Ek word geïnspireer deur my omgewing en is baie gelukkig om in so 'n kultureel ryke land te bly.
