Should be five stars but.....

I am happy about the quality, it looks and feels a touch of luxury in my modern and fairly minimalist home. The colour was described as white but is really beige. It still works with my white walls and bamboo wood floor, but I would have preferred it in a grey shade of white rather than a brownish shade of white. Drop a half point as I know how difficult colour description can be. The carpet was well protected with plastic and strong bands, but had been folded for a long time and was tightly packed. I am struggling to persuade it to lie flat, I had it upside down for a couple of days, and also trying steam but the folded ridges are very obvious still. A Pity it was not rolled rather than folded. Another half point down, so four stars rather than the five which the carpet itself probably deserves.

Specifications

Carpet ID ORIA104
Knot density approx 160 000 knots per m²

You can easily calculate the knot density yourself by counting the number of knots 1 cm down and 1 cm across, and then multiplying these numbers together. Then multiply the total by 10,000 to give the number of knots per m².

Some carpet sellers exaggerate the knot density, so to be sure that you are comparing like for like when it comes to price, it is worth checking the knot density yourself. Most of CarpetVista’s carpets have a photograph of the reverse with a ruler, making it easy to examine the knot quality and count the exact knot density before choosing your carpet.

Pile Wool
Wool is a natural textile fibre and one of the most sought after materials for rug making. Wool rugs are highly durable and perfectly capable of resisting wear and tear of every day use. Wool has a naturally dirt-repelling effect and is easy to keep clean. It is also flame resistant and characteristically retains it’s shape so that the pile of the rug always rises.
Warp Wool
Manufacturing Knotted by hand
Elaborate weaving technique with specialized artisans tying knots to form rows of pile either by cutting each individual knot or an entire row of knots. Hand-knotting takes time and also allows for intricate patterns.
Also known as Afgan, Afghán, Afgán
Size 140x201

This carpet is hand knotted/woven; therefore, difference in shape, thickness, pattern and sizes can occur. This applies particularly to nomadic and village carpets.

A Kirshehir prayer rug from western Anatolia was created around 1930. Richly ornamented and with an amazing color harmony. Framed by elaborately decorated borders, this prayer rug shows the artistic skills of the nomadic weavers. A great piece of cultural
Turkmen treasures: A collection of knotting art from the Ersari from the past century. The Ersari, Turkmen nomads from the north of Afghanistan, knotted carpets, kilim tent bags and other household items in order to be able to live in the yurts all year round on their hikes of their kind. The most striking feature of Turkmen carpets is their mostly geometric ornamentation and the red to red-brown Overall color. The main motif of this knotting work is the so-called "Gül", a mostly octagonal main motif that shows the tribal affiliation of these proud nomads. These Ersari works from the last century (1940 - 1960) are rare, irretrievable originals today. Nomadic and semi-nomadicism is also on the verge of extinction in Afghanistan. The hand-knotted workpieces of the Ersari collection are precious rarities from a private collection and were restored with much love and effort in the country of origin.

Afghan Khal Mohammadi carpet from Afghanistan.

Khal Mohammadi are handknotted by Turkmenians in northern Afghanistan and in some cases they can also be handknotted in Pakistan by the Turkomans who have crossed over the borders. Traditionally they have an elephant foot pattern and the Afghan carpet is famous for their beautiful red nuance. The carpet is very durable, with the best quality from Afghanistan. A beautiful carpet well worth its price.
