CarpetVista’s Ethical Policy
At Carpetvista, we recognize the need for providing safe and healthy working conditions for the producers of our carpets. We constantly strive to improve the quality and standards of the working conditions and workshops. We work closely with our suppliers and purchasers in providing and improving the social and environmental conditions in the workshops where our carpets are produced. We believe that these issues are a core element in the success and running of our business, and it ensures that we provide products that our customers can confidently buy.

Carpetvista’s position on child labour and work conditions
We support the international conventions on child labour and working conditions as set out by The UN Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC) and the International Labour Organization Convention (ILO). We also demand that our carpet suppliers adhere to the rules, laws and regulations of the country in regard to child labour and working conditions for their workers. We have our own independent carpet buyers who continuously visit, inspect and monitor the work environments and working conditions’ where our carpets are manufactured, to ensure that no child labour has been used. If our suppliers or manufacturers do not meet our requirements we immediately cease to have any relations or co-operation with them.

Ongoing commitment
Some of the carpets we have in our collections are made in co-operation with the Danish aid organisation DANIDA. The programme supports the development and co-operation between the Nepalese carpet workshops and carpet wholesalers and retailers. This programme has therefore developed into a role model enterprise that sets the standard for other workshops, where environmental techniques are employed in the manufacture or our carpets thereby contributing to a healthy environment. Besides the environment issues, since the workshops are closely monitored, working conditions regarding child labour is never used in the production of carpets in these workshops.

We therefore ensure that our carpets have been:
• Produced in environmentally friendly conditions, using techniques that do not damage the environment or the workers who handle them.
• Produced in safe and healthy working environments.
• Produced by adults who are properly paid and that no child labour has been used.
• Produced lawfully, honestly and adhering to the highest ethical standards.
